The world has quickly come to accept that economic growth, and the power and
influence that comes with it, is shifting toward emerging and developing nations, China
foremost among them. As a result of this shift, the developed world will likely need to
go through a period of realignment to better balance their economies in order to support
their domestic markets and populations. The severe global economic decline has
enforced this view as well as clarified the extent to which it is occurring, while perhaps
accelerating the pace of this development.
At the same time, the huge economic meltdown we have been through, along with the
exacerbated fiscal problems it has brought to the developed world have created what are
probably unique investment opportunities that families would be remiss to ignore. In
addition, of course, the global nature of business enterprises today means that many
domestic companies that operate internationally will profit from the evolutionary
changes that will take place over years, if not decades.
Because of these ongoing changes and the continuing uncertainties created by the
widespread economic collapse from which we are still attempting to recover, affluent
families face investment choices in an environment that poses numerous, perhaps
unprecedented, challenges. These range from basic decisions such as whether to invest
in distressed real estate and other assets now or later, to whether asset allocation models need to be rethought altogether.
In conjunction with all the pressing investment considerations families have to ponder,
they must also contend with uncertainty about tax rates, regulations, government
intervention in the markets, whether we are entering an inflationary or deflationary
cycle, how we will ultimately deal with our massive deficits and debt—and what it all
means for interest rates and the dollar—the unstable geopolitical environment, and a
variety of other issues that don't lend themselves to easy analysis or understanding.
The 11th Annual Institutional Investor/Lido Consulting Family Office Wealth Conference
will examine these and other essential issues families must contemplate as they navigate
in a world that at this moment presents more questions than answers then at any time in
recent memory. In the process we will evaluate an assortment of investment options to
unearth where the best opportunities may exist and where the greatest risks may be
lurking. We will also determine what other affluent families are doing or considering
when it comes to investing in various strategies, regions, sectors and asset classes.
Finally, through a series of presentations, workshops, panel discussions and addresses
by special guest speakers, we will analyze the domestic and global political scene, look
at trends related to philanthropy, intergenerational wealth education, women and
wealth, personal and property security and protection issues, as well as a host of topics
of concern and interest to affluent families.
With the involvement of numerous experts, experienced family office executives, family
members and others, the 11th Annual Institutional Investor/Lido Consulting Family
Office Wealth Conference will provide a unique chance for families to discuss essential
issues, share ideas and information, and informally review a diversity of options that
will help them make informed decisions underpinned by their individual standards,
values, objections and family circumstances.
Family office representatives may attend this event
by invitation only, which requires a fee to register.
